This C19 village lock-up was built in 1824 to detain local wrongdoers until they could be moved elsewhere to face justice. Often it was used to sober up drunkards overnight. This lock-up became redundant after a few decades. The government passed a law to cause police stations to be built that had their own holding cells. Harrold, Bedfordshire, England. August 2025.
