One of my last shots from Friday night. This will be a familiar sight to everyone North of the Equator, but it is a rare visitor around my latitude. In fact, the last time I shot this was in December of 2023. In a bit of an amusing twist, this image, like the one in 2023, was shot with my Dwarf2. This time I got much more than 10 minutes though, and have access to much better post-processing options.

Andromeda is the closest spiral galaxy to our own, and the source of a lot of what we know about the structure of galaxies like ours. Here we get Andromeda and the companions M32 and M110.

So, here we have 120x15s@60 exposures, post processed in Stellar Studio and finished in Snapseed. We also have the original version from 2023, 40x15s@80 post processed in Snapseed only. My, how far we've come!

@rdm congrats on getting Andromeda! I’ve been trying to work out how to get it. Impossible from home due to hills, trees etc I think I may need a camping trip up North! Though I just looked up where you are and if I go visit mates at Wubin then that would work too! Just need a clear night, a hill with a clear view North and the galaxy at its highest.
@buddhawilliams
We were just in the caravan park! The gotcha was that it was at close to 4am...
@rdm ahh sleep is for the dead 🤣
That’s so cool.
