#TodayInHistory: #ObjectSpotlight on this #NYTMCollection pamphlet announcing the return of 7 express service #OnThisDay in 1989. The pamphlet's messaging is translated into several languages, reflecting the ethnic and linguistic diversity of the line's ridership and the borough of #Queens.
Due to much needed repair work on the IRT Flushing Line, including a major overhaul of the Queens Boulevard Viaduct, express service on the 7 train had been suspended from May 1985 through August 1989. Even though it was a large project, the @MTA.info completed the work six months ahead of schedule.
When service resumed, this pamphlet provided passengers with a map of express stops, and information on the development of the 7 express route. Service resumption coincided with the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the 7 express train. It was originally for visitors to the 1939 World’s Fair.
