Why CrowdBucks?
Because the Fediverse deserves its own infrastructure — including funding tools.
No Patreon. No Ko-fi. No lock-in.
CrowdBucks — Fediverse native, self-hostable, and open-source.

Your instance seems to currently be running Mastodon 4.4.3.
(According to the nodeinfo for that instance https://greennuclear.online/nodeinfo/2.0 )
We've been testing CrowdBucks with a newer version of Mastodon.
...
I wonder if it is a Mastodon version issue? Although it might also be something else (unrelated to the Mastodon version).

@collectifission @crowdbucks just found crowdbucks, love the concept, checked the website to see how it works.
Tbh I still have no idea HOW it works. How is the money moved? I don't want to register/sign in before such basic questions are answered, and either I'm too stupid/tired to get it or the info just isn't there.
Also, "made by people you know" - and then no imprint, let alone even a single name of a real person, srsly?
Or is this just a mock-up page for a project that just starts?
@collectifission @crowdbucks OK so I'm not just too stupid/tired. Thx. (c:
Is there anything that's reputable & reliable in that direction, i.e. an open source and/or fediverse platform for funding or money transfer? A fediverse version of paypal, if you will? Sry if that's a stupid qurstion, tbh I haven't done any research on that so far...
@derbrumme @crowdbucks I'm currently using Ghost, which has integrated Stripe. So that's not open source.
But perhaps Liberapay is interesting:
Liberapay does not transfer money, it just manages donations conducted through Stripe, Paypal, or direct transfer.
I think the best bet for open money transfers is @Interledger, who are working on an open payments standard.
@brekke @Interledger @collectifission @derbrumme @crowdbucks
I am working on adding Interledger and OpenPayments.dev, etc support to CrowdBucks.

Regarding:
"Tbh I still have no idea HOW it works."
You can see how CrowdBucks works in this video.
https://spectra.video/w/5bprkfCGTeHjwSYaiB2Boa
I did a demo of CrowdBucks at FediCon 2025.
@derbrumme @collectifission @crowdbucks
Regarding:
"How is the money moved?"
Currently —
A person uses their credit card to make a payment. The credit card payment is processed by Stripe.
In the future, we will add other payment methods other than Stripe.

Regarding:
"Also, "made by people you know" - and then no imprint, let alone even a single name of a real person, srsly? "
The site was rushed, to get something out for FediCon 2025.
I agree with you that it is lacking in many ways. We are working on improving it.

I am working on CrowdBucks.
I am part of the Fediverse developer community.
It is easy to find (more) information about me online.

Regarding:
"Or is this just a mock-up page for a project that just starts?"
No. It works. You could use it now if you wanted to.
@derbrumme @collectifission @crowdbucks
FWIW, I started work on a CrowdBucks project website:
( https://crowdbucks.fund is an instance of CrowdBucks.)
And, I started adding a team section to it:
I just started. So, there is a lot more to do on the project website.
I am in the process of creating a CrowdBucks project website:
The https://crowdbucks.fund site is an instance server running the CrowdBucks software.
The Codeberg repo is linked from the (new) CrowdBucks project website. (From a link in the top-right of the screen labeled "Get Source-Code".)
@reiver @crowdbucks you might want to put some of that info on the page because right now it looks like nothing more than an operation to harvest email addresses.
Your line "Part of the Fediverse? So are we" followed immediately by "give us your email address" is pretty funny but definitely not filling me with confidence.
@crowdbucks is this using crypto under the hood? If open-source and decentralization are good, then why not use crypto?
What do you think of things like Zora and Farcaster?
