#RFIDBlocking #DIY hack worked! I tested out my work ID, and with the wallet closed, no signal. Open it up, there's a signal! I laid down a couple of overlapped layers of silver duct tape, then smooth aluminum foil, then clear packing tape over the foil.

It worked, @ai6yr !!! I used two pieces to make sure my ID's were blocked from both sides.
@ai6yr And now I have a shiny, reconditioned, reinforced, RFID-proof leather wallet! All I need is a small hole and grommet to hang my keys off of...
@DoomsdaysCW Cool shield, 2 in 1. I carry phone & wallet in separate front pockets. An NFC card sheath would be easy to test at a store. Don’t know what to do w/phone.
@stevewfolds Heck, I'm thinking the DIY shields might be good in clothing -- especially if one keeps one's phone and wallet in pockets (which I sometimes do).
@DoomsdaysCW is that straight up aluminum foil, or something fancier?
@EtherNRhum Three layers... Duct tape, then aluminum foil, then packing tape. I posted the instructions earlier this week...

@EtherNRhum I used the silver-coated duct tape. Not sure if it makes a difference, but that's what I saw in the Instructions.
@DoomsdaysCW Awesome wallet inserts! LOVE what you did there! I am a little curious about the three layers. Aluminum foil is the signal blocker, right? Then clear packing tape to hold it in place and keep it from tearing? But why not have clear tape on both sides? Is the duct tape for extra stiffness? Thx in any case. πŸ‘πŸ‘
@iDGS So, my guess is that the silver (and not black) duct tape adds adhesion and another layer of something? The clear tape over the aluminum prevents arc'ing. That's how I understand the materials, but I could be wrong.
