Stolzenfels Castle in Koblenz-Stolzenfels (Middle Rhine), which was converted into a neo-Gothic palace by the Prussian Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm at the beginning of the 19th century (1836 to 1842), dates back to a 13th-century customs castle belonging to the Electorate of Trier, which was destroyed in 1689. The renowned architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel was involved in the expansion.
One of the most remarkable features is the pentagonal keep, the oldest part of the castle.
