My partner and I went out love lock hunting recently. We baked in the sun, but came back with 13 lucky couples.

While I was decoding a distinctive-looking combo lock, an older guy came walking across the street to us and said "Hey! what the hell are you doing to my lock?" I told him "I'm opening it, but I can lock it back up when I'm done, if you'd like". We ended up having a conversation about lockpicking, laws regarding love locks, and why it's important to get marine-safe locks if you're deploying it in a place near salt water (or other adverse conditions). I popped the lock while we were talking, and showed him how I did it.

@alice I've wanted to learn lockpicking for a while. Would be a fun fidget thing when I'm working on stuff at the desk or on my laptop and I can't focus. That, and I'm a bit of an airhead at times and can easily forget my keys-

@NosirrahSec @alice Yeah I gotta get a set of picks and a lock or three to practice with at my desk. Maybe the next time I have disposeable income in...checks watch...five years(I am still interested in lockpicking I'm just a broke bitch)

@alice I know there’s a bridge with a bunch of locks on it that goes to some beach in Seattle or the surrounding area, I’ve forgotten where it is though. you walk onto this bridge over a railroad and then you go down some stairs to the beach. if you can find that, it might be interesting to see what you can find there!

@alice 😎 How do you do combo locks? Do you just power through all the options? Or are there tricks for certain models?

So, since he said "my" not "our" lock, I guess when he was read the riot act about locks, he decided he didn't need to have that particular memento to a failed relationship anymore? 🤔
