A few months ago, while visiting family in Tennessee, I started digging through my parents’ substantial vinyl collection. They do not listen to them — the records were just sitting in closets and a spare room, in record crates. I pulled a bunch of records to take back to Chicago. It was quite a haul.
I just pulled a fraction of really good ones from the six or seven hundred I sorted through. It’s an exquisite collection. They aren’t audiophiles, just music lovers. (To be fair, they always had a great hi-fi.)
Anyway, I’m back in Tennessee this weekend. Was planning on pulling a few more records to take back — there are so many I’d love to give a good home to — when I realized I had *missed* a closet last time I was down here. At least another 300 records to sort through.
@mcnees Can't NOT take BTR! It's the 50th anniversary this year!!
@mcnees It’s a PITA, but there’s quite a market for used vinyl. A friend of mine who does yard sales has amassed a collection of thousands. He “found” a first release of the British version of Led Zeppelin 3. It got him $1000USD. I’m not a vinyl guy anymore - gone full streaming. And I’m definitely not either a buyer or seller of anything used except cars.
