"President Donald Trump entered Friday’s Alaska summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin having once promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office."
"On Friday, he left the press conference without a deal and without taking any questions – a reminder that even the self-styled dealmaker is powerless to resolve a conflict driven by the entrenched interests of rival empires. For a president who built his brand on striking deals, the sight of Trump walking offstage empty-handed was a public humiliation."
"Well, there you have it. After months of discussion over whether or not Donald Trump will side with President Zelensky or side with Vladimir Putin, we're now learning this morning after the disastrous Alaska summit between Trump and Putin that he is actually moving closer towards Russia and further away from our European allies and Ukraine."

But first the press gave Trump a full week to hype his deal making skills, alternately building up and lowering expectations.
Only recently has the MSM had a few stories on how the entire charade in Alaska was a win for Putin.
