On August 4, 2025, #Meat & #Livestock #Australia announced a $20 million research partnership with #TibaBiotech & the #NSW Government to pioneer a world-first #biodegradable #mRNA #vaccine for #footandmouthdisease (#FMD). While Australia remains FMD-free, this step was announced to safeguard against potential outbreaks that could cost the Australian economy up to $80 billion.

The vaccine, tested in Germany, uses mRNA technology to trigger an #immuneresponse in #cattle.

My meat supplier is an #antivaxxer & is complaining about this in an email sent to me a few minutes ago.

@John

Complaining about something that could very well one day save his business? Makes sense.

@PeterLG

Exactly. I’ll be looking elsewhere for my meat. Didn’t know I was dealing with an anti-vaxxer.

@John FMD would destroy the industry, Vax away imo

@John I like the ambiguity in your original. "my meat supplier is complaining that being an antivaxxer is harming his business"

Or even "complaining that he doesn't want to be an antivaxxer but covd brain fog makes it impossible to think his way out of the trap"

@John

I saw someone recently describe the attitude of individuals towards vaccines as something that requires a context.

This fellow feels he is healthy and simply lacks the knowledge to even imagine that a tiny little virus might change all that. He feels invincible.

One day he might find himself lying in a cancer ward having undergone treatment, and in that context he's likely to be a lot more aware of the science that is trying to save his life. He might even learn to appreciate how, more specifically, vaccines can help rebuild his immunity.

Ignorance is a luxury. Not all of us are subjected to this.
