I decided to overcome the energy barrier which separates humanity and #nixos and I'm glad I did. It is fantastic.

I'm not a #linux novice at all but I would have give up in the first day in a pre-AI era. Without Gemini I'm not sure if I would have the time and energy to mess with Nix syntax.

@oxiurus This was a priceless discovery for my transition. I could have done it slower and worse without the help but code is really where these tools shine.

@oxiurus But that means you're not really going to learn if you're just copying and pasting from an AI, so... why bother?
@jay tell me a single example in which you learned something without replicating someone's result.
@oxiurus My entire setup was done through just looking at search.nixos.org, discovering options as well as good old trial and error. I had something decently workable in a few hours over my first 2 days and moved on from there. You don't have to do it that way, but there are times when AI isn't going to be able to refactor your code to make it maintainable and you're going to need to figure things out for yourself.
