The blossoms are out already. The air is cool, but it really feels like spring is underway. Was about 19°C today.

I did plan to get some other work done, but sometimes just hanging out with trees is more important.

A certain kind of sunny. Winter light is a bit special, and the last few days have been still and clear like the calm before a storm. Cool and sunny, although perhaps not quite cool enough.

Same lens, this time up close on the pansy beds. The 10-25mm F1.7 is easily my favourite lens for MFT bodies.

This little chap likes to hang around the edge of the botanical gardens. Have seen him a few times. Always getting roughed up by ravens or currawongs. It's a hard life out there for a city lovin kookaburra.

I had to include my favourite murder-bird in this thread. Such elegant little killers. I love that song, and the way they move as a group. They flow through a habitat. When they stare you down, you get a sense that there a lot going on behind those bold yellow eyes.

I have no idea what these flowers were. Felt like velvet. Lumpy and rich in tone. The bees liked them though. Maybe in the sage family from my recollection of the leaves.

Will make this the final post from Sunday's walk. A touch of aloe.

Photography is a real gift, it gives me a reason to go out and take a walk. To get a little sunshine, or walk in the gardens, or watch a few of the birds. We still have a lot of nature at our doorstep, even here in the middle of the city.

Looks like Salvia leucantha

@kellyromanych

That looks like a good match :) Thankyou!

We’ve always called it Mexican sage. Not sure if it has other names! I have a big planter of it that I bring in for the winter and out again in the spring.

There's a quite famous App here in Europe to identify plants (Android / iPhone)

https://floraincognita.de/

and it also knew this one ... not sure how it will perform worldwide, though

@FloraIncognita_DE

Flora Incognita | DE – Die Flora Incognita App – Interaktive Pflanzenbestimmung

@manankanchu @ewen It performs reasonably well in Europe and North America as well as in Australia. We don't support (so far) the other floras, especially the Tropics.
