We are the first generation that can end extreme poverty and the last that can prevent runaway climate change. We hold every card. History will ask if we played them.

We wrote an in-depth essay about this unique moment and the responsibility that comes with it. It is not about optimism, but about the specific, systematic work required to build a better future.

@10billion please list the exact steps we can take individually that leads to a massive collective change

@MisterMultiverse

Great ask. Here’s an action stack that scales when thousands do the same. Pick 3 this week, then recruit 3 friends.

1. Set a monthly give (15 min). Start $20 to a top global health or cash-transfer org. Add a 90-day reminder to increase by 10%. Recruit 3 friends to match.

@MisterMultiverse 2. Make one named policy ask (10 min). Call or email your representative about a specific bill on climate, pandemic readiness, or AI safety. Use the bill number, ask for a yes or a meeting, note the staffer’s name. Follow up once.

3. Improve air quality where you work or gather (60 min). Add HEPA or a Corsi-Rosenthal box, target CO₂ under 800 ppm, post the reading.

@MisterMultiverse 4. Shift one purchase to clean (30 min). Switch to a green power plan or community solar. Set a date to replace the next gas appliance with a heat pump at end of life.

5. Move one supplier (30 min). Ask a vendor for an emissions baseline and reduction plan. Make future contracts contingent on reporting and milestones.

@MisterMultiverse 6. Voter leverage (45 min). Register or recommit 5 people for the next election and set shared reminders.

7. Start a micro-resilience group (60 min). Three neighbors or coworkers, shared contact list, simple emergency plan, check on the vulnerable, run a 15-minute drill.

@MisterMultiverse 8. Professional nudge (30 min). Aim your next project, hire, or contract at clean energy, global health, or AI safety. Send one email today to lock it in.

9. AI guardrails at work (45 min). No deploy without eval. Require a model card, a red-team check, and a human-in-the-loop failsafe. Write and share the policy.

10. Host a 1-hour salon (60 min). Discuss the essay, each person writes one commitment, schedule a 30-day check-in.

@10billion these are pretty solid and I appreciate the effort in providing them. Will followup. Thank you!

Not to end on a sour note, but I want to mention that I hear substack is not a positive org for the world. We need to unite and support orgs against fascism. Please also consider this. Thank you.

@MisterMultiverse Thanks for sharing. Why or how is substack not a positive org for the world? We have not come across that argument before.
@10billion with respect to you. I've seen posts and articles like this one most recently https://mastodon.social/@dangillmor/115007355928086403
Ghost is apparently an option. Free, open source, federated software seems best.
