So apparently I had an 8 minute long power failure a few days ago. Luckily the old APC UPS I garbage picked years ago carried through, as per apcupsd. No gap in uptime in any of the machines running on it.
Power is pretty reliable here, I haven't had a power failure lasting an hour or longer in a while. But it does flicker now and then.
@paulgatling Okay, I dug out some pictures from when I was messing with this. It looks like the old batteries had a 60 A fuse, which is kind of oversized.
I got two bigger batteries and wired them to a Powerpole connector, so I could move them independent of the UPS.
@paulgatling I basically put a hole in the side of the chassis, and ran another wire out. It was really just a Powerpole extension cord.
As an aside, most of my DC stuff is 12 V, for which I use red and black Powerpoles. I kind of have a color scheme, and use yellow and black for 24 V, and green and black for 36 V. That's just me. Pick something that makes sense and stick with it.
