NYT got called out by some hate monger for bad reporting because the kid has CP and so was already pretty fucked up. NYT acknowledged this and basically said, "Yeah, turns out he does and the starvation hasn't helped."
Not sure what they're supposed to do in this situation...pretend the kid doesn't have CP? Not issue a correction and just let this hate monger keep calling them liars?

The pre-existing condition thing feels like such an American thing, like it somehow excuses things.
While a child being starved to death is already infinitely bad, a kid with cerebral palsy being starved to death seems worse.
The reactions, calling the original report blood libel, etc. this is off the charts. A child died, but no, it's only about anti-Semitism because Israel didn't kill 100% of one child.
@xinit @ErikUden Yeah. I don't know. When the cops kill some black dude and they find out he did some sort of drug at some point that day or earlier all the sudden it's, "OH, he shouldn't have been doing that," not, "That's why cops need to be extra careful."
Maybe NYT should have mentioned the new fact and then tore into the fuckers making a thing of it. I didn't read the original article because NYT is paywall and that's where they did most the "correction"--maybe what's there is better.
