These tracks once lead to Hubbrücke lift bridge across the Elbe river (just a few steps from here) and there was a railway station, #Elbebahnhof, nearby. The railway connected Magdeburg and Berlin/Potsdam in the mid 1800s. Today, these tracks are the only reminders of the railway line and the pedestrian walks are part of a lively promenade along the river, that takes you from the city centre to the biggest park and beyond.
