ENLIGHTENMENT NARRATIVE
capital smokescreen

#ClimateCrisis #Science #Capital #WhoWins

@OccuWorld

thats the perfect recipe for collective suicide ... and extintion ...

on a place near you starting 2032 ...

@OccuWorld

Civilisation has not organised around capitalism.

Capitalism has coerced civilisation.

@OccuWorld Without #science, & without the #technology produced by the application of science, there would be no #industrial #capitalism - a fact acknowledged by Karl Marx himself (The Poverty of Philosophy, Ch.2, https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/download/pdf/Poverty-Philosophy.pdf.)

@rmblaber1956 @OccuWorld

Marx was wrong. Capital is indispensable. Science is useless without capital.

@prau
That's a common illusion because capitalism is the current dominant ideology.

@rmblaber1956 @OccuWorld

@yacc143

A common illusion is that science (or unions, government) is the source of everything, wealth. People hate capitalism simply because they do not realize the role of capital accumulated by capitalists. By the way, anyone can become a capitalist - small, medium, large - if they want.

@rmblaber1956 @OccuWorld

@prau @rmblaber1956 @OccuWorld Ah, a true believer of the cult.

@yacc143

You should look at yourself.

@rmblaber1956 @OccuWorld

@prau Oh, I was a conservative as a teenager. I'm him still, but the world moved way past me in the past decades. Nowadays the ultra-conservative of the 1980s (European variant) is called a communist. Just because I don't preach a "0% unemployment plan" like the cool GOP candidate in California. The one he advertised for with a very empathic image of Auschwitz-Birkenau as a background. Been to Oświęcim BTW? Capitalism made it a dark, sad theme park, especially if you don't know the history of

the place yourself. Lucky for me, I do happen to speak the languages (German & Polish, and with a bit of concentration, I manage to read Fraktur), and I had at least a rudimentary knowledge about the Nazi time.

Interestingly, the regular high school education here gets a bit foggy on the details on how you can probably count the bigger German (and even non German ones in the occupied places) corporations that did not benefit from the Nazis.

The SS forced labour system, the Nazi arisation system, basically fascism as such.

But yes, Capital is the core thing that makes humanity work. In incredible inhuman ways, and incompatible with our constitution, the German one, EU primary law (basically and effectively the EU constitution, it's in all EU MS higher priority than the national constitution, albeit all in their own national ways.)

But hey, Capitalism is the last one standing.

Or as the joke goes, "the elder, clothed in leather skins, sits around the fire with the kids, but for a short period the profits were fantastic."

@OccuWorld To be 100% honest about my sentiments - If civilisation valued science, resillience or the long term wellbeing of life, it would have nope-ed itself off the cliff before it got round to creating littles squares of monoculture, ploughing the soil to death and melting rocks to make shiny things.

We missed that opportunity, but thanks to the miracles of civilisation, we can do the next best thing and nope the ecocidal billionaires onto a starship and yeet them off to Mars, while we celebrate on Earth.

@OccuWorld same for 'Democracy'

@largo @OccuWorld
I'm stealing a message here to say:

Liberals! If you love democracy so much why don't you democratize the workplace?

@OccuWorld enligthment was probably first, then people saw the opportunity to make money of it
@OccuWorld hence the speed of science in wartime.
@OccuWorld
They love tech, not science
