“Emails can be ignored, but a very very long queue making it near impossible for other clients to get in will help a lot as well,”
This is very naive. Duopolies do not care how long clients have to wait, what are they gonna do switch providers?
Maybe not, but once that long line starts to impact their bottom line, then they suddenly care. Always target their bottom line, for that's all *they* care about too.
@iyashikei_kris @Natasha_Jay I'm sure they have a filter bot sitting on that inbox and sorting the incoming emails into categories. Similar to ones we use to block spam.
The only difference from spam filters is that they have to respond to every inquiry. So the bot detects this kind of flash mob messages, responds with a prewritten reply, and closes the cases in bulk. No human intervention is needed.
@Natasha_Jay from the article:
We do not make moral judgments on legal purchases made by consumers. Visa does not moderate content sold by merchants, nor do we have visibility into the specific goods or services sold when we process a transaction.
Outright lies.
When a legally operating merchant faces an elevated risk of illegal activity, we require enhanced safeguards for the banks supporting those merchants.
The fact that Visa tolerate some types of legal activities but not other types of legal activity, for example one type of pornography and not another type of activity, shows that they are full of it.
@Natasha_Jay I certainly hope this has got their attention, but I'm doubtful.
No matter what else you may think about them, the credit card comoanies know their business and risk assessment better than any other. They know how much every decision will cost before they implement it. Odds are good they know exactly how much this is going to cost vs. appeasing the religious right.
Whilst companies are generally entitled to pick and chose who they accept payments or services to/from this changes when they become an effective utility.
If you are a an effective monopoly (Visa & Mastercard) in the payment processing space then you should accept all LEGAL payments without deciding if you like the involved parties.
This is very relevant as a lot of organisations are moving away from cash.
Perhaps a different comment in that thread summarizes the ordeal best: “There’s really only 2 things that can unite Gamers: hate campaigns and gooning.”
Thats going in the quote book
