Lately I have been making some repeat patterns. This one is made with a commissioned linocut print about the California superbloom, the rare desert event after a rainy season when dormant wildflowers all bloom at once. This monarch butterfly is surrounded by native California flowers: the California poppy, lupine and baby blue eyes.
I miss seeing California poppies growing wild at the side of the road, like they do on Vancouver Island, but we do see them cultivated in gardens here. 🧵1/2
