It seems watch apps are not very popular. Coding a little watch app just for my own fun has shown me so many issues, it’s hard to believe these were not fixed long ago …

Are you still developing watchApps? Do you use WatchApps other than the standard ones?

@below I use quite a few, but I definitely wish there were more. I use on a regular basis:

AutoSleep
Fantastical
Geneva Moon
HarmonyWatch
OneFootball
Weathergraph

I have many more that I only use occasionally.

@below as a dev I dropped watchOS as it‘s too limited. As a user I switched to a smart ring (for some health data) and will likely never update my ancient Apple Watch.
@below @technicat I picked it up recently, just for fun. I really like the constraints. But I have found things in SwiftUI that don’t work only on watchOS. And the integration with Xcode is very bad. It’s kind of a miserable experience.
@below I use the fitness app to start trainings. And very rarely the timer app... nothing else. I don't use the watch really
@below At one point I was in charge of four watchOS apps. Only one of them is still alive as a zombie. The user base is far too small, the potential added value negligible and the work required too much. For example, I always had problems with network and location services.
@below From my point of view, hardly anyone uses apps other than the ones included. For me it's an extension of the iPhone to see notifications.
@below I use some:
- WaterMinder
- Fantastical
- Pedometer++
- Overcast

@below I just updated one of my watch apps a few months ago. Honestly, without iCloud snyc I would not have gone trough the hassle to sync it to the iPhone app. I also felt like this kind of app makes sense on the watch.

Though, honestly besides a few training apps, I don’t use anything else on my watch.
