itch.io
@aeva fuuuuck this
@arichtman @aeva payment processors: you want to do what to this?! no monies for you. repent.
@aeva This is depressing. Fuck the payment processors mafia. I hope itch.io finds a way around it.
@silverweed @aeva I can't even express how sad and angry this makes me.
Even though it doesn't affect me directly, it's one of those things that feel like regressive feudalism, and cause a violent itch inside me.
@bovaz @aeva @silverweed I don't really watch or look at porn, but I still hate this for exactly how you feel. This is so fucked up for many of the people in my life. I know people who sell NSFW games on itch, I also know friends who buy said games. Fuck all this, this is such bullshit.

@aeva

Fuck #puritans

And sure, today it's #NSFWGames, but what stops them from blocking #QueerPolitics next, or a wider swath of #VideoGames because "they make children violent" (no they don't). Or are they going to attack #OnlinePrivacy next?

This sets a dangerous precedent. It shows them that this *does* in fact work. They're not going to stop at this.

@agender_kiwi @aeva yup, they specifically outlined this in project 2025. The very next step is that anything LGBTQ+ is going to be considered "porn."
@GabeMoralesVR @agender_kiwi @aeva It is only a consequence, the root cause is: why VISA and Mastercard did accepted the impositions made by an aussie group?
As far as I know, you cannot enforce your laws on the citizens of another country in their country. Sovereignity.
In this case VISA and Mastercard may lock payments in Australia, not worldwide. I think their worldwide rules enforcement will have soon bigger countries-level repercussion. Japan first, more will follow soon
Maybe this is a good thing! It can trigger the end of a worldwide monopoly
@dancer_xiv @agender_kiwi @aeva Well thinking bigger, the same group that blocked it in australia is the same group that is pushing these ideas in pretty much all countries. It's a symptom of a larger cancer out there, and it's honestly terrifying. My gut is to say not that they'll look for ways to avoid cancelling payments worldwide, but rather for ways they *can* without much blow back. I sincerely hope everyone remains diligent on this.
@aeva well there goes all of Itch.io's fucking good will. Holy shit.

@aeva Somehow, I think it's a long term plan to promote the inefficient and risky cryptocurrencies.

But more importantly, these NSFW games are going to be hit harder than other media, simply because they are only found online rather than in stores. Additionally, the restrictions seem to be rather vague, meaning that innoceous content could be targeted.
