The bucket list shot I didn't know I needed until the opportunity arose. A shot of a Golden Eagle and Badger engaged in a stare down. July 18, 2025
#wildlifephotography
@DaveMason Eagle is thinking "I got my ass kicked by a badger once...I wonder if I can take this one."
Badger: "come at me mf"
@DaveMason that is an amazing moment and captured beautifully!
@DaveMason it's like a fable from Aesop. Nice catch & great shot!
@DaveMason the eagle is aiming to kill the badger and the badger knows it!
@DaveMason In terms of Scottish Golden Eagles and Scottish Badgers I honestly couldn't call a winner. I hope it ended without going nuclear.
@_thegeoff it was a moment of curiosity from what I witnessed. A brief glance shared between the two and the badger continued on its journey. It was settled in a very Canadian way. 🤣

@DaveMason "I could eat you, you look fat and tasty."

"I dare you. I double dare you. Come at me, bro. Biggest mistake of your feathered life, LET'S GO"

@DaveMason I can't stop looking at this photo. Just so wonderful.
@DaveMason Can I take it or can it take me is pretty much the oldest question in nature.
@DaveMason This looks like it wants to be an animated movie about two unlikely friends saving a downtrodden segment of the animal population from certain death.
@courtcan quite possible. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
@DaveMason what a shot! Do your eagles eat your badgers?
@Beedazzled I doubt an eagle can win against a badger. Badgers are very nasty by nature. These two were just curious.
@DaveMason ours are quite shy and retiring and very nocternal but way too big to be eaten by an eagle. They can certainly stand their own if needed to though
@Beedazzled Ours are similar. Solitary, nocturnal & feeding on small rodents, animals and birds.
@DaveMason ours live in quite big family groups. They use the same setts for hundreds of years
@DaveMason Such a tense moment. And you were in the right place at the right time 😍
@DaveMason Thank you for sharing. Such an intense look - or do we actually know..
@DaveMason wow! Those hills in the background are giving me southern AB? I hadn't thought you'd see a golden eagle there!
