I noticed that my #Alesis #Microverb4 effect processor was becoming quite noisy. I already changed some capacitors a few years ago, but today I proceeded to a complete recapping. The results are very good! The noise is once again very low and the sound quality is very good.
And since I had my desoldering iron hot, I proceeded to an inspection and a partial recapping of the #Proteus/1 #rompler that sits next to the #Microverb. It was a wise choice. Many capacitors on the power supply were in bad shape and would not have survived much longer. There were even signs of leaks on the plastic sheet on the bottom of the case! #Recapping.
I noticed the #Proteus/1 power supply was built by #Skynet 😱 And I just repaired it! We are doomed 🤣 Jokes aside, it is s nice and simple power supply, quite good for 1989.
Speaking of the #E-mu #Proteus/1 I love how some presets sometimes contain hints to some competitors. Here is the ā€œNoiseFree LAā€ synthesis that trolls the LA synthesis of the #Roland #D50 (this patch is similar to the Staccato Heaven of the D50). There’s another patch on the Proteus called Phantazia trying to reproduce the D50’s Fantasia.
If you want to hear the "NoiseFree LA" patch of the #E-mu #Proteus/1, here is a short recording that I just made for testing the rompler. It is the well-known #Bach's Invention 4 (#BWV775), please excuse the crudeness of the interpretation as it is completely unedited (but at least is played by a human and not by #AI). #music
