The crow-stepped gables of Provand's Lordship on Castle Street in Glasgow. Built by Andrew Muirhead, the Bishop of Glasgow, in 1471 as part of the Saint Nicholas's Hospital, it's one of the few buildings in the city to survive from the Medieval period (or there abouts).

Was there ever a castle on Castle Street? It strikes me I don't recall a castle in Glasgow. . . perhaps the only place in Scotland w/o one nearby?
@FallsMom There was. It was the Bishop's Castle (where the Bishop of Glasgow lived until 1689, when Bishops were abolished in the Church of Scotland). It was finally demolished a century later 1789. If you're wondering why a Bishop needed a castle, look up the Bishops Wars! That's kind of tongue-in-cheak, but it's an interesting part of Scottish history (and is linked to the abolition of bishops in the Scottish church).
Looked it up. . . incredible back and forth on and on. What first jumped out at me was Charles I, knowing how he exited his reign!
