Medical debt shouldn’t ever be a thing in a developed country. No other Western industrialized nation has it.

@georgetakei agreed. the idea of essentially having a mortgage for your chronic condition is a uniquely US problem. the promotion of profit over health is a truly US thing. countries, when they can afford it, offer healthcare to their citizens. only the US says... hey! we can make insurance companies stupidly wealthy by restricting care to the wealthy*.

* making them poverty stricken in the process...

@georgetakei Only America has medical debt and America has more billionaires than any other western nation. Hmm, maybe there's a connection ... 🤔
@georgetakei The medicaid cuts will eventually force rural hospitals to close their emergency rooms and labor and delivery wards. Insurance won't pay, and the average American doesn't make enough money to pay for the full price of any hospital service. Is this what we think is great?
@georgetakei No civilized nation has it.
@georgetakei While US-Americans still have it worse, Canada, Australia and the UK are not Western industrialized nations then.
@georgetakei Republicans: Please die downwide quietly! Because profit is our god.
@georgetakei cruelty is the whole point. It is the Republican brand.
