@N33R I think you may be giving early 4chan a bit too much credit. "An hero", for instance, is in reference to an 11 year old's suicide, and the subsequent trolling of his memorial pages. I fondly remember EFG, longcat, slowpoke combos, rickrolling, "PS3 has no games" etc., those were indeed fun and lighthearted, but I also remember MySpace girls with eating disorders being ruthlessly stalked and harassed, forums raided and spammed with gore (and worse), autistic kids on deviantart getting doxxed and humiliated, and a whole lot of revenge porn.
