you can identify Windows developers because they write their pronouns "they\them"
you really make viral the dumbest posts huh
@kitten you mean, make woolly
@kitten everyone else on their way to interpret that as a tab escape character
@CenTdemeern1 @kitten Ask me for test failures only happening on my Windows system. "C:\Users\Tobias" ...
@kitten actually I think they usually spell it as M:he\him, F:she\her, X:they\them, and such
@kitten I hope people get why this is so good
@kitten Took me a while to realize this was not a tabs-vs-spaces joke.
@kitten this took me a moment but I eventually got it. Very proud of myself.
@kitten Japanese Windows developers use โ€œtheyยฅthemโ€
@kitten look at my profile lmao
@gsuberland self fulfilling prophecy โ€‹โ€‹
@kitten I have been hoping someone would make this joke for months now :D
@kitten I've never seen they hem pronouns before โ€‹โ€‹
@kitten i guess iโ€™m a MS-DOS 1.0 programmer then because I write it as just she, no directories
@kitten, what do you mean, โ€œthey hemโ€?
@kitten I realize this is probably just a joke, but still, I was in the Windows org at Microsoft from mid 2017 to late 2020, and I don't think I ever saw this.
@kitten you mean "THEY\THEM".
@siguza @kitten case-insensitive filesystems also support tHEy\TheM.
@3geek14 @kitten I know Windows supports lowercase characters, it's just that the design philosophy seems to reject them...
@siguza @kitten There's definitely something fun about shouting `%LOCALAPPDATA%` at my terminal. But the directories are named things like "Program Files" in title-case. I've never yet sat down to think about which contexts I expect for which casings.
@kitten I remember when it was "PRONOU~1".
@kitten brb fixing my pronouns
@kitten
they hem
@zbrown @kitten underrated comment for evaluating the tab char ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ
@kitten Do their programming socks have strips that go the other way?
@kitten ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
@kitten FOONE BOOST FOONE BOOST
@xerz oh no
@kitten youโ€™re popular now, time to push the instance to its limits and say I knew Elise before they were viral
@kitten That one took me a moment to piece together, hehe~

@kitten It took me a solid 30 seconds to understand this, and now that I do, I _hate it so much_

thank you for the silly moment today.

@kitten i donโ€™t like hard tabs, my pronouns are
โ€œthey emโ€
@kitten What does "they hem" mean?
@kitten my dumb ass make some time to understand the joke
@kitten @Natasha_Jay Iโ€™m laughing unreasonably loudly at this.
