Huzzah! Made a retry successful batch of popcorn on the induction stovetop, thanks to @mikeseye and his tips

Used just a bit more oil than what’s needed to cover the bottom of the pot. Turned the heat to a notch above dead-on medium until oil was thin and near rippling. Added popcorn and swirl-stirred it. Turned heat to med-high and put the lid on. If no popping after 15-30 secs, turned heat it up a notch, then reduced heat after 2-3 pops. After a bit of popping, tilted pot for low agitation. Near the end, I lifted pot, shook it, and quickly returned it to stove. Turned heat off as pops slowed
