Jeff Bezos threats to buy Conde Nast should absolutely be taken seriously.

It would give him control over a number of media outlets that are strong voices in opposition of fascism (like Wired and Teen Vogue)

Under the oligarchs control they would be forced to become right wing propaganda.

Now more than ever we must support independent journalists… many of whom are speaking truth to power despite the personal risk.

If you can boycott Amazon, please do it. Send a strong message with your wallet that you don’t support fascism or the billionaire class.

If you can’t boycott, please don’t feel guilty. Many disabled people and those in poverty may be reliant on Amazon for supplies they can’t get elsewhere.

Trust that your community is boycotting on your behalf.

We’ve got you, and you need to take care of yourself in order to survive.

No guilt. We all resist in whatever way we can.

Condé Nast also owns:
Ars Technica & The New Yorker, two publications that haven't bent the knee to The Orange Oaf.

@thomascoven @broadwaybabyto Ars Technica hasn't been doing its job evenly.

Notably, Eric berger has been caught being quite uncritical of Elon Musk, and another reporter has spouted transphobic propaganda. Lastly, its moderation has really degraded, and has often been letting right wing troll get away and banned their contradictors.

Beth Mole is still top notch though.

@Sobex Yeah the way otherwise excellent space tech reporters tap dance to avoid talking about fascism, for access & to avoid controversy w/their audiences (see also #ScottManley & #EverydayAstronaut)… Otherwise great reporting, but we passed the “which side are you on?” point a long time ago.

They still lambast Musk's various projects from time to time - it's more suble than some would like but it's definitely there.
And the Comments Section doesn't mince words, nor has it been sanitised as much as so many others.
