Italian authorities waited 40 hours before issuing an emergency alert for a boat with around 80 people lost in the Mediterranean Sea after an initial sighting by Frontex. A passing charity rescue vessel came to their rescue days later, but says at least 60 people had died as a result.

This type of cruel practice by the Italians & Maltese government is very common, I remember many times when I reached out to the Italian & Maltese coast guards whenever I receive a distress call from the Mediterranean Sea & contacted the Italian and Maltese cost guards and they would send rescue after 78 hrs.
