First long ride of summer last Saturday.
The weather was very warm and rain was forecast for the afternoon, so we started at 7 a.m.

The quality of the bike path was nice, but with some areas very dangerous! Check the picture !

We shared part of the ride with a 78-year-old man at 30 km/h. I hope I will be in this shape at that age. 🤞🏻

During the ride, we came across the landscape of ‎⁨Repentigny⁩ and ‎⁨Terrebonne⁩, and made a short stop at ‎⁨Île des Moulins⁩.

Leaving the Île des Moulins and riding on TransTerrebonne, a 10 km trail in a beautiful forest. We were very happy to escape the sun and heat.

Yes, a gravel bike would be better :-)
But my road bike has seen worse terrain.

Finally, here is a video capturing our peaceful moment in the forest on the TransTerrebonne. Enjoying the carless environment and the cooler temperature in the shade.

It was a fantastic ride! Now I'm planning the next one, which will be over 200 km. :-)

@lucas3d inspired by Robert Marchand, (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2021/05/28/robert-marchand-cyclist-jailed-nazis-set-world-records-100th/) my stated life goal is to *attempt* the world hour record... For over 100s.

Somehow I doubt I'll get it. I can hardly do 16mph now.

After a life that included stints as a firefighter and lumberjack, he returned to cycling in his sixties and continued until he was 108

@Pionir Yes,I know the story of Robert Marchand. Very impressive!!

Regarding your performance, I have a question about training.

I restarted riding bike over 40 years old. My first long ride was 40 km. Now 14 years after, my longest ride was 330 km in one day.

@lucas3d @Pionir
Nice ride! My longest was ±142 km 2 years ago. Since getting a girlfriend last year, I haven't made longer rides. For now I'm content to ride shorter times with her than riding longer ones solo. Even though she doesn't want me to stop doing what I used to do.
@normand @Pionir Short ride with your girlfriend is fantastic. I never have one interested in riding 😢
@lucas3d @Pionir I met her in a cycling club 😀 (and its membership is 60% female too! If not more)

We plan our camping trips around biking. Only thing is, she won't go on bikepacking or bicycle touring trips. Her car is her lifeline...

I wrote that we do short rides, but she can ride 75-80 km unless it's too hot and humid like this past weekend. Few weekends I should say. When it's not raining, it's crazy hot. 🙄
@lucas3d I had a 20year sabbatical from cycling after uni. At 43 I decided to do a 100km charity ride with no training (it was fine, I just took it easy). 10 years later I'm still going. Luckily I have a decent 1hr commute so get the miles in by default.
@Pionir Yes, commute helps a lot to keep the daily activities. This is the best.
