@openculture I was 22 when this occurred. The Cold War was thawing, people were coming together to help those in need in Africa. It seemed like the world might be ready to start focusing on what we have in common and not our differences. Oh well.

@openculture @codinghorror although Live Aid is now seen critically for not being as helpful after all, it should be remembered for the compassion it brought out. We donated because we wanted to help fellow people. We just need to be smarter about how.
