From time to time, we hear about free (legal!) options for streaming the films in our library. We're happy to share that information with the Fediverse if anyone is interested.

We also list viewing information on all the film pages in our library, if you didn't know that already.

Would you like us to post here about free ways to view our films? Let us know, and if there's interest we'll happily oblige.

⭐ For every person who responds, we'll recommend a free film!

@JourneysInFilm I found that my yr 7 class (ages 10-11) really responded well to video.
Short Stories (not documentaries) about social skills like working in a group, noticing emotions, caring - these would be super useful.

Also, many of them are brainwashed by social media and desperately need thoughtful anti-bias movies! These would work well for a mentor lesson (like a homeroom / lifeskills combination). Especially regarding race and racism!

@RosyMaths Thank you for your interest! We've got some fun resources that we think your students might love.

This year we launched a new series combing super short films and little writing and discussion prompts. Many are for your age group and are focused on social skills. The films and prompts are all free! Check out the Watch and Write series here: 1/n

@RosyMaths For anti-bias education, a great film for your students' age range might be Whale Rider. It streams for free in many regions. It tells a compelling story of a girl around your students' age pursing her destiny despite other people's prejudice. And it's a good starting point for discussions about gender, culture, and identity.

We hope this helps! If you have more questions or requests, please let us know! 2/n

PS We also offer a free, on-demand professional development webinar for teachers about teaching anti-bias education with film. It gives an overview of many of our anti-bias education resources and films. Plus it includes a Q&A with teachers about how they're using these materials in the classroom and how they deal with anti-bias education challenges. 3/n

Anti-Bias Education: Using Media to Foster Critical Thinking and Combat Antisemitism and Islamophobia

In this 2024 Share My Lesson Virtual Conference session, we will highlight key aspects of anti-bias education, broadly, and then share film-related resources specific to antisemitism and Islamophobia. This includes highlighting a newly created and released lesson regarding antisemitism, which places antisemitism within the context of the rise of white supremacy, especially in the U.S.

@JourneysInFilm @film @education Ooh nice! I've been wanting to watch this anyway!
@RosyMaths @film @education You're in for a treat! It's a wondeful film. 💙
@JourneysInFilm @education I've shared with fellow mentors (homeroom teachers) because we struggle immensely with these issues in the age of toxic influencers!
