Rounding up actual human beings and imprisoning them cost so much more than just leaving them be. Despite the rhetoric, most immigrants pay taxes without getting any of the benefits of doing so. This was never about that.

Trump's major donors were the For Profit Prison System. Are they all racist, yeah, probably, but it's more than that. They don't care who they put in there, it will be anyone they can get away with.

These people have been turning America into the world's largest pyramid scheme, now with prisons for anyone who questions it.

@RickiTarr And we started out with many more prisons and inmates per capita than any other "advanced" nation and complete consensus between the two ruling parties that ever-increasing police and prison budgets while social services and business regulation were gradually eliminated was a good thing.

@RickiTarr It starts with immigrants. Then, it will be the sick, disabled, vulnerable adults, women who have or seek abortions, and pretty much anyone else they don't like for whatever frivolous reason.

@RickiTarr I still think the only way to "fix" it is to improve the immigration process and grant citizenship to people who have been here for X years with a clear path to citizenship for the rest.

We made this problem and now we have to accept the consequences because deporting every single one will crush our economy. We need them now; they're just as American as we are.

I believe the management of #AlligatorAuschwitz will fall to private contractors sooner rather than later.

And, if, in the process of scooping up these workers, you've driven small operations into the arms of the big ag conglomerates, the shareholders win on that side of the bargain, too.
