And then add to the fact that whilst #9thGenConsoles are the most expensive [by sticker price, not adjusted for inflation!] and have evidently the most powerful hardware & best tooling compared to previous generations, they too lack a reason to even consider buying them.
- It's worse than #8thGenConsoles cuz they at least had [at release] good #Exclusives worth the money.
I literally know folks that got themselves the #JapanoBox 4 for "#DetroitBecomingHuman" and there are people who bought the #HaloStation One for "#Halo5" [which is still #console-exclusive]
- but I know literally noone who bought the #PS5 / #PS5Pro or #XboxSeries / #XboxSeriesX and didn't have instant "#BuyersRegret" as both have a worse lineup than the #Nintendo64!
What Happened to the 9th Generation?
The most "successful #9thGenConsole" is the #SteamDeck, because #Nintendo's #Switch2 is merely a "minor upgrade" compared to the #NintendoSwitch, to the point that I think it should've been called "Nintendo Switch Pro" instead of #NintendoSwitch2, tho some people would call the #WiiU an
#8thGenConsole when in fact it's just an overclocked #Wii with #BD-ROM drive and #Touchscreen #Controller, which in and of itself was just a #GameCube with an overclocked yet smaller size CPU and more RAM.

Needless to say I've yet to find a reason to ditch a modded #Xbox360 because even nice AAA games like #DeusExHumanRevolution as #DirectorsCut are literally plug & play and just works off the discs. (granted one needs to swap the discs 75% into the game but that's acceptable).

- TBH, Titanfall on the #Xbox360 is just impressive, tho being #Online - #Multiplayer-only it's kinda dead, but still impressive that it even runs as they literally stream stuff from HDD & DVD at the same time!
Not to mention basically all the #Games for the 360 still work. One may not be able to buy new DLCs and stuff but even if #Microsoft yeets it's #Multiplayer support, one will still be able to enjoy the games for the foreseeable future.
- Again, Titanfall is the only game I know that is strictly Online-Multiplayer - only.

So yeah, the #HaloStation suffered the #ThirdConsoleCurse as #Halo was what got them to exist in the first place, to the point that even former #Sony Execs had to admit that #XboxLive and Halo's #Multiplayer really wiped the floor with them when it came to it.

Granted #Sony still won with the #PS3 compared to the #Xbox360 because at launch it was the cheapest #bluray player (just like the #PS2 was at launch one of the cheapest #DVD players).

...and that worked, because if we've to ask who won: HD-DVD, blu-ray or HD-VMD [lol], you'd say #Netflix or #BitTorrent or god forbid #YouTube, but I digress...

But I guess #Microsoft refused to understand that their whole #MediaCenter approach flopped hard cuz I only know of half a dozen people who actually jumped through all the hoops to get that #MediaCenterExtender thingy working on the #Xbox360 and by the time they would've considered an #XboxOne by virtue of having stable 24/7 internet access they just asked me if I can get them setup with #DLNA running #minidlna from a #RaspberryPi Model B 1.1 ...
NOONE wanted that feature-regression back then and now.
