@GroupNebula563 @isaaclyman it very much depends on where you live, but if you think it would help you save on car trips or possibly help you get farther than you might go on a trad bicycle…or perhaps it's just plain fun as a way to get outside and some exercise regularly…then it's definitely an amazing purchase.

x0r@isaaclyman Also, Windows 11 is just way too bloated to even run on e-bikes. Which is probably a good thing, because they’d shove you ads down your throat while you ride, or have Copilot ask you “it seems like you’re trying to go uphill; do you need help?”.
E-bikes with Bosch mechanisms seem to be based on either FreeRTOS or FreeBSD, from what I can see here: https://www.bosch-ebike.com/de/licences-products

I am in my 60s, not rich, and recovering from a stroke, and while I own a conventional bike, using it or even restoring it now is beyond me.
And adjusted for inflation the ebike cost $10 LESS.
@the_turtle I see a lot of 60+ folks out on their e-bikes when I ride, and the looks on their faces never fail to make me happy. This is what technology can do. This is why circuit boards matter. Every person who comes into cycling by way of a battery and an electric motor is a success story.

(What ever operating system is behind the controller, it is luckily not very enhanced AND just working).
