OK donc brace yourself
Déjà voici des nouvelles d'Albarine, qui est devenue timide avec les inconnus mais qui s'éclate chez elle, elle sort dehors et tout, elle vit sa meilleure vie et aime beaucoup ses adoptants.

Bon ils font pas masse de photos parce que sur certaines qu'ils m'ont envoyé, j'ai reconnu la marque de rasage de sa stérilisation (faite avant son adoption) 😅

Oui, il s'appelle Kumquat, je voulais faire une vidéo name reveal mais j'arrive pas à la charger donc tant pis. J'ai mis trois noms sur trois feuilles avec trois friandises devant. Il a tout mangé mais il a commencé par Kumquat.

Dans quinze jours je serai un homme sans chats

Je sais pas comment elle se débrouille mais c'est quand la même la deuxième fois qu'elle va s'enfermer dans cette baraque en moins de trois mois
C'est reparti pour aller poser une cage trappe dans la baraque abandonnée demain matin 🙃

Du coup, la pauvre bichette, elle miaule, ça stresse un peu Bergame et Kumquat, la chatte des voisins lui répond, on s'en sort pu.

Résultat de la journée :
- Kumquat a été dûment stérilisé & identifié, il a eu si peur en arrivant chez les vétos que quand le véto a ouvert la boîte, il a fait mine de le mordre, suite à quoi le véto a retiré sa main et là il a foncé à l'extérieur de la boîte et est allé se manger le mur 1 mètre plus loin, donc il saigne du nez :')

- Macha est correctement rentrée dans la trappe et elle a été relâchée dans son environnement naturel, à savoir la rue à côté de chez moi (bis repetitam)

- Bergame est vaccinée et a besoin d'un petit régime mais franchement ça va

Kumquat et Bergame seront adoptés dimanche si tout va bien 🌸

L'adoption de Bergamote et Kumquat prévue demain est un peu repoussée ; l'adoptante est à l'hosto pour 2 jours 😭

Heureusement, Kumquat a re-bien remis en place ses rythmes circadiens, et ne passe plus ses nuits à gratter le sol, la porte et sa litière comme il le fait depuis sa stérilisation (il fait beaucoup ça quand il est un peu en stress ? c'est curieux paske quand il est actif le jour il fait pas ça du tout).
Je suis donc reparti pour un tour d'une semaine avec les deux doudous ( c'est pas que je les aime pas, mais j'avais un peu hâte de souffler).

Un de mes comportements préférés chez Bergamote, c'est la façon qu'elle a de venir se planter sur le tapis derrière mon fauteuil en faisant "mrou ? mrou ! mrou 🥺 " et là je sais qu'il faut que je me lève, et elle se dandine vers son tapis préféré à 3 mètres de là pour s'y étaler afin d'y recevoir des câlins parce que madame Bergamote a un tapis pour les câlins, un tapis pour le jeu, un tapis pour réclamer les câlins.

@leroimiracle c'est rigolo les chats ont leurs habitudes, des fois j'en ai qui ont un jouet préféré par endroit de l'appart et veulent pas jouer si c'est pas LE jouet qui est amusant à cet endroit

hahaha 🤭 je retrouve souvent le jouet préféré de Bergamote sur le même tapis d'ailleurs. Je crois que c'est la première fois que j'ai un chat qui a des préférences aussi marquées ^^

j'aime trop ça quand ils font un verrouillage de regards, qu'il y a un petit moment de "oké t'as compris où je voulais en venir" et après ils partent vers là où ils veulent qu'on soit 🤭
ma lapine avait un coussin à papouilles, c'était un peu pareil

@Sylvhem ouuiiiii et ils sont trop GENTILS, je passe mon temps à martyriser Bergamote pour sa pommade et tout et elle dit jamais rien, je l'ai sortie de la rue quand même et jamais un coup de patte, jamais une morsure.

Bon Kumquat il a commencé en me donnant des coups de pattes parce qu'il avait peur, et maintenant quand il trouve que je l'ai pas assez caressé il me pince 😂

@leroimiracle Mais noooon. J’aimerais bien que la mienne se laisse faire quand on doit lui mettre de la pomade ^^’.

for my defense I had told the ASV to maybe get gloves first.

@leroimiracle : I have never seen a cat have a nosebleed, either.
Tomcat was really bad with vets (which is weird because otherwise he was a very confident cat), and we've had incidents, but nothing of the sort.
His very first vet appointment, he panicked and climbed the blinds all the way to the ceiling, but he didn't hurt himself at least.

the worst was Escampette, the vets came back to find me because he'd escaped in a storage room and they were too scared to get him back because he was hissing and all.
After a few back and forth I just grabbed him and carried him to the table. Poor baby was terrified, but at some point he went to the vet so much that he got used to it.

@leroimiracle : at least you were still around to help. If you had not been in the waiting room, God knows how that would have been solved.
I don't imagine you can sedate them before surgery, either ? For regular appointments, Tomcat had Gabapentine (and even then he was still very angwy), but I'm not sure that would have been possible if he had needed surgery. Thankfully neither him nor Trix ever had to be under anesthesia, so I never had to find out.

@leroimiracle (for the third cat, I've been considering forcing myself to go visit the vet clinic every month or so, without appointments, just to be in the waiting room during a quiet hour and feed the kid with treats, then go home and have an even better treat, and hopefully once they'd need to actually go, they'd be less panicked ? Not sure it'd actually work... or that I could go outside that often)

You're right, I don't think you can give gabapentine to a cat who's going to be sedated - and it doesn't work well with all cats, alas.

For the third cat, it is the start of a good idea and it is, in fact, rather encouraged. It's very good if you do it a few times when they are kittens, even better if you can have a vet look at them quickly ; but technically, you can do the same thing without the vet.
Going at a few other locations with the kitten and having them interact with other people, while doing med training at home works wonders too !
It's all about checking where's the kitten at, and gently get them to accept a bit more.

@leroimiracle : the one thing I need to be better at is teeth cleaning. I could touch Tom's teeth, but cleaning them was hell (and for the longest time I didn't think it was necessary, for which I have no excuse). For that, I think I need the training first XD

I cowardly resort to giving them "cleaning teeth" treats... But i have no idea if they work :')

@leroimiracle : we tried so much stuff with Tom... dental powder, toothbrushes, etc. But it was way too late to get him accustomed to it the way I had trained him (and Trix !) to take showers without any fuss.
To be fair, you don't have them in foster for that long. When they're still young, it's not really necessary, especially since some of these babies are not going to be using these teeth very long XD

@ladyteruki no no, you're totally right, something is VERY off.
Their eyes are super weird and the snoot of lighter baby looks cleft, aside from the obvious orbital-weirdy-thing that's happening.

The fact that they have blue eyes at this age is even more worrying - on a coloured cat, it has been linked to physical defects.

I can't believe this is a LOOF litter. The litter number is invalid, and the ID number is the one of a female Maine Coon named Papaye and aged 6 ; it seems a bit late for breeding, though it's not technically bad.
Also, a breeder without the name of her breeding facility, it sounds fishy.

Ok so it's not my imagination, thanks for confirming ; with the asymmetrical faces and stripes, I wasn't sure. I mean, even weirdly shaped kittens deserve a home, but probably not in exchange of 2K€ !

@ladyteruki the stripes should not be a problem, but on the face, like that, it usually can help to discern a cranial anomaly. In the case of the light baby, as she's got a streak of white it's less visible, but you're right, the stripes are definitely no symmetrical. What worries me is the small size of the eyes and the fact that one of them is higher than the other. It kinda reminds me of cats with Down syndrome but not exactly.

I agree, 2000€ is way too expensive for a breeder without a name, and kittens with weird heads. They do be cute though.

Everyone can check the ID of a cat on the ICad website, but only vets can check the owner ID !

@leroimiracle : oh no I know stripes don't have to be symmetrical, I just mean that it made me doubt whether there was a distortion or if it just looked that way because of the stripes. Down was also my guess, but I've only seen adults with it, and Maine Coon also tend to have a different bone structure.
I had actually never thought about trying to look it up. I was so convinced it was only for professionals ! TIL !

Maine Coons ARE weird-face-shaped and I confess I spent a few minutes sorting through regular maine coon kittens first.

Ecoute c'est pas l'amour fou, mais ils jouent pas mal ensemble, Kumquat l'aime beaucoup, et ya moyen que la transition d'un appart à l'autre rapproche Bergame de son frangin, comme le fait de se retrouver dans la pièce de quarantaine l'avait faite se rapprocher de Fuji et Gala (les joies du stress bonding ! yay !).
En général elle aime mieux les femelles, mais Kumquat est doux et tranquille et comme il sera castré bientôt ça devrait la calmer (elle lui grogne encore un peu dessus).

Je vais pouvoir en profiter pour faire un vide sanitaire, me reposer, dormir, et faire des trucs genre aller voir mes grands parents (que j'avais pas vus donc depuis la dernière fois que j'ai pas eu de chats donc deux ans ^^')

ça va me faire bizarre mais je pense que ça va me faire du bien !
