Other good news - scientists have found out that they can play music to coral reefs to lure back fish and coral larvae. The music consists of the sounds of living coral reefs, and can be played in dead and dying reef areas to revive them!

It is faster than planting the resistant corals by hand, but together doing both humanity has a chance to bring back the reefs.

Don't give up hope yet. <3

@hiisikoloart

I mean, that's good news.

At the same time I can't help thinking that as long as we don't solve main problem (polycrisis) this achievement will not stand the test of time.

This isn't to say that optimism is falsely placed! Just that human brains aren't suited for comparing things of these magnitudes, leading to cheering won battles, while the war itself fares poorly.

@iju
I think that in order to people to keep fighting, they need to see that positive impact can be done or we all will be too fatiqued to care anymore.

It is important to see positive things amongst all of the horrific things since human brains are also more prone to store negative feelings and memories.

Tiny rays of light help the mind withstand the darkness, and all that. (^_^)

@hiisikoloart thank you! Good news does not gain traction online nearly as well as bad news, so intentionally sharing it matters

@darkuncle
I saw this news myself and it cheered me up so I thought why not share it here too, since my feed has been a lot of doom and gloom lately.

It is so hard to keep going sometimes when all there seems to be is the dark sides of humanity trying to destroy all that is good.

We can all strive to try to focus on the good things too, while dealing with the bad. (:

Take care, and have a lovely day today!

Playing sounds underwater to damaged coral could help them thrive

Researchers found that coral larvae were up to seven times more likely to settle at a damaged reef if healthy coral sounds were played.

@cassolotl
Thanks for the news source!
Someone else also shared the research itself. (:
@hiisikoloart Thanks for sharing. Music heals.
@mmu_man
Others commented both a news article to it and the scientific study. Just browse through. (:
@hiisikoloart looks like they didn't get forwarded here…
@mmu_man
I added the link to my post.
But the links are on the comments too for public to see.

@hiisikoloart yeah I found them by going to the original instance, but as I said, my instance didn't bring them in my feed by itself.

Thanks.

@mmu_man
Glad you found them. (:
@hiisikoloart where can i get my hands on this music i want to rock out to it
@aeva
It is essentially the sounds of living reef, so you can either search that from Youtube, or maybe one of the links in the comments has the original sound track. (:

@hiisikoloart

Can you link to some source?

@jarekkopec
In the comments are 2 sources. One to news article and other to the study itself.
