@bradlinder granted #OrangePi - like all the "#RaspberryPi competitiors" - fail at the most important part:
They do make the "superior" #hardware where 'number go bigger!' and 'benchmark go brr!' is the case, sometimes even with lower power and lower price but if all they do is vomit out SBCs and a few outdated, highly-customized & non-reproduceable boot images
, that is all pointless at a certain degree...
@kkarhan @bradlinder @geerlingguy @OS1337 What documentation are you referring to?
The manual is 638 pages.
@frenzybiscuit @bradlinder @geerlingguy
How about makibg custom bootable.images from scratch and it's boot pipeline.
Cuz there are half a dozen different boot pipelines and methods for #ARM systems...
@kkarhan @bradlinder @geerlingguy @OS1337 Why???

Use any linux distro you want with a mainline (latest) kernel.
@frenzybiscuit @bradlinder @geerlingguy @OS1337 so that SoC boots #ARM-#UEFI and is fully supported by mainline Kernel?
@kkarhan @bradlinder @geerlingguy @OS1337 The nova? No. But some of the orange pi 5’s do.
Fedora Rawhide works great.
@frenzybiscuit @bradlinder @geerlingguy sadly I.don't have hardware to test.
@kkarhan @bradlinder @geerlingguy @OS1337 I dont even know what OS1337 is, but I run fedora rawhide on several orange pi 5 pluses. They are servers, though.
I will say desktop mode worked @ 4k30 when I tested.
@frenzybiscuit @bradlinder @geerlingguy basically @OS1337 is just a minimalist #Linux.
