In addition to intricate Art Nouveau design, it’s also known for a a four-manual, 74-stop Voit & Söhne pipe organ that weighs approximately 23 tons.

The Langston Hughes Auditorium is an events space at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture which is a research library and archive of the New York Public Library. It was established and completed in 1905 and is located in Harlem, NYC. is named for Afro-Puerto Rican scholar and Harlem Renaissance icon Arturo Alfonso Schomburg. The auditorium was last renovated in 2008 and can seat an intimate 321 people.

Lincoln Theater Washington is a Classical Revival style historic theater located in Washington D.C. It opened in 1922 and was a prominent entertainment venue for the local Black community. It desegregated in the early 1950s and as part of what had been known as “Washington’s Black Broadway” it was a centeral meeting point for Black activists. It fell into disrepair in the late 1980s but thanks to a community effort it was revived and restored and is now a popular performance venue again.

Neubaukirche Würzburg is a former Catholic University Church located in Würzburg, Germany. It was built in the 16th century. It sustained damage during WWI and WWII but was restored in the 1960s. It ceased beign a church in the 1986 and has been used a performance and community meeting space ever since. It features a working Schuke pipe organ that is the second largest organ in the city!

United Western Recorders was an independent recording studio complex located in Los Angeles, California It was founded in 1961 & during the 1960s was used by Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys to record “Pet Sounds” (1966) & the the initial sessions for “Smile” and Frank Sinatra also recorded ther in the late 1960s. By the mid-1980s it was sold and split into Ocean Way Recording (now United Recording Studios) on 6050 Sunset Blvd and Cello Studios (now EastWest Studios) on 6000 Sunset Blvd.

Leeds Town Hall is a Neoclassical-style municipal building in Leeds, England. It opened in 1858 with an opening day attendance of approx. 400,000 to 600,000 people. It sustained damage during WWII era bombings but was restored and reopened at a WWII era communal kitchen and convalesce home through early 1960s. It’s both known for its well appointed interior and b/c it features a gorgeous Gray and Davison of London Pipe Organ complete with 100 stops and 6,500 pipes that weighs 40tons!😍

Columbia 30th Street Studio AKA CBS 30th Street Studio AKA “The Church” was a recording studio located in Manhattan, NYC. It was originally a Presbyterian Church in the late 1800s and was abandoned by the time WWII rolled around. It was revamped and opened as a recording studio in 1948. Everyone from Jazz greats like Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday,etc. to Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan and John Cale recorded there until it finally closed in the early 1980s.

The Red House is a 17th century farmhouse house museum located in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England, was the home of the composer Benjamin Britten, from 1957 until his death in 1976, and of his life partner & muse, Peter Pears, until the his own death in 1986. After Britten’s passing it became a heritage monument and active house museum(meaning Peter Pears lived on the grounds while the main house was an active museum) It averages over 10,000 visitors!

It was completed around 1258 with an additional tower-the 400+ ft tall spire of which is the tallest in England added by the early 1330s. The Cathedral’s Chapter House is home to the best preserved, surviving copy of the original copies of The Magna Carta.

The Salisbury Cathedral is known for its fully restored, 19th century era Father Henry Willis Pipe Organ, which is comprised over 4,000 pipes- some stand over 32ft (10m) tall! Additionally, it features 61 ranks, 65 stops, and 4 manuals. Father Willis himself considered this specific Pipe Organ to be one of his best works.

Priory Park at Southend on Sea is located in Essex, England. The park & Prittlewell Priory was founded by the Cluniac Order in the early 12th century and now includes a museum, gardens, trails and performance spaces. (But,sadly, no pipe organs💔)

The Aragon Ballroom is a Moorish Revival style former ballroom turned events and performance space located in Chicago, Illinois with 5,000 capacity. It first opened in 1920 as a ballroom and vaudeville performance hall, by the mid-1920s it also was used as a movie palace. It would go on to be used as a radio soundstage in the 1940s &1950s, spend the 1960s & 1970s was a skating rink, a boxing venue, and a discothèque before finally becoming a permanent performance space in the 1980s .
