@WhyNotZoidberg @theicarian Well, actually in the 19th century the sentiment wasn't that much pro-German either ... particularly in the mid-west.

There has always been a certain anti-immigrant sentiment in the U.S., it just shifted from undesirable white immigrants towards the more tanned people ...
