📢 We've sat down with our artist @dopatwo and created a sticker pack for @signalapp. Now you can send cute elephants to your friends, and promote the #fediverse at the same time. We ❤️ Signal, too!

I'm sure promoting the centralized @signalapp will never come back to bite @Mastodon in the ass.

@dopatwo

@ondra @Mastodon @signalapp @dopatwo I find it a bit funny how "decentralization" became the buzzword on the Fediverse, just like the techbros on X or Linkedin do it with AI or blockchain. There's a reason and a market for products with decentralization or AI and without it. It's good to have alternatives. None of those features solve all problems.

@daniel Agree that decentralization isn't always necessary (or good even) and that it's better to have alternatives. It's just weird to see @Mastodon who's basically whole raison d'être is decentralization, promote @signalapp.
Centralized communication service is not as resilient, creates incredibly valuable target etc. It's just a matter of time.
I find it similarly funny to see people throw around privacy as a buzzword without any regard for freedom (of choice, repair etc.), BTW.

@dopatwo

@ondra @daniel @Mastodon @signalapp @dopatwo Signal is the gold-standard in E2EE messaging. Decentralized chat apps have proven to be buggy and unreliable over and over again. There's a reason "Unable to decrypt message" is a meme.

Until a decentralized chat app can be as stable, secure, and easy-to-use as Signal, there's no reason to bash others for recommending a centralized chat app.

@tedstechtips Sure, but that @signalapp is currently the best option for many doesn't mean it's perfect and people can't point out its flaws. @daniel @Mastodon
@ondra @tedstechtips @signalapp @daniel @Mastodon Not being "decentralized" is not a flaw. Same shit as people saying only open source stuff is worth it.
