I haven't been posting much lately, and I need to share why. I can't even believe I'm typing this, but my sweet Grizzle has been so sick, and we just got the devastating diagnosis dysplasia in both elbows. 💔 My heart is shattered.

The vets have given me two impossible options: euthanasia or a $4300 treatment. I cannot, I will not, lose my Grizzle. He's my world, my best friend, my family 😭. The thought of not having him here is unbearable.😭

This is where I need to be completely vulnerable and ask for help. I can't afford this treatment on my own, but I can't give up on him. If you have anything, anything at all, to spare to help us raise these vet bills, please consider donating. Grizzle wants to live. Grizzle deserves to live.😭

@amberholenn Our dog was diagnosed about 5 years ago with dysplasia in both elbows. She had one arthroscopic surgery on one elbow to clean up some bone chips. Since then, she’s been on daily amantadine and gabapentin to control the pain. She limps all the time and I have to limit her total walking time to about 45 minutes per day. She’s quite happy and curious even though she’s now about 12 years old.

I’m so sorry your girl has been through so much, but it sounds like you’ve done an amazing job managing her pain and keeping her happy and curious. Hearing about her journey with surgery and daily meds is incredibly helpful as we figure out the best path for Grizzle. We just want him to be as comfortable and happy as possible.

@amberholenn Hi Amber, we did have to try multiple different pain management meds before we settled on this particular combination. Also, we are pretty careful to keep her at a good weight, and also to keep her total walking time per day at a fairly consistent amount. I think you’ll figure out what works best for Grizzle; and he’ll be both comfortable and happy.
