At 2:00 PM this afternoon, Southeast Washington Incident Management Team took command of the Barstow Road Fire. In a coordinated fashion, firefighting efforts transitioned from local fire district personnel to incident management team personnel supported by Washington Fire Service Resource Mobilization Plan. Walla Walla North County Fire District and WSP are the cooperating agencies for this incident.

Resources from around the State of Washington have mobilized to support the Barstow Road Fire. Local firefighting crews worked tirelessly overnight making great progress with slowing the spread of the fire and installing containment lines around the fire perimeter. Today, crews will continue the work, engaging in fire suppression as well as reinforcing, and securing lines around the fire perimeter.

…Air Space Restrictions: There is no Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place over the fire but if an emergent need arises, one will be put in place to protect firefighting aircraft. For the safety of all pilots, citizens, and firefighters, please avoid flying in the fire area. Please remember, any unaccounted-for aircraft, including drones, puts aerial firefighting resources and lives at risk. If you fly, we can't. All firefighting aircraft have to be grounded if unmanned aircraft or drones are operating near the fire.

Resources: We estimate 110 personnel currently working on the fire.

Estimated Size: 1500 acres with 0% containment.
