Two years today I came out to everyone as #trans right here on Mastodon. The reaction was incredible and I continue to receive so much affirmation and support here. I'm not sure that would have happened anywhere else.

I don't write original posts here or on my own website very often, but today I thought I would let you know what I've been struggling with since November:

@lisamelton it's a supportive place!

And also, when you're in the middle of highly stressful situations, just getting through is exhausting. Talking (or writing) about what's happening can be too much. Sometimes even receiving notes of encouragement can feel like a burden.

At least, that's true for me.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that it's most important that you have people you can lean on, whether or not it's those of us in that specific community πŸ’œ
