Instead of using butter with your garlic bread, you should switch to Linux. You can set up a virtual machine to try out various distros to see which one works best for your needs.
@catsalad sure you can try them all, but the only right conclusion is using Arch instead of butter.
@jerry @catsalad "i use arch" is the new "i use gentoo" :D

@Viss @catsalad first date openers:

I’m a pilot

I’m into CrossFit

I use Arch Linux

@jerry @catsalad can confirm. Its lean, yet tastes delicious. If you want the complete no-fat version that still keeps nice Arch-y notes, you can try Artix, which comes in a number of delicious flavour profiles.
@mpldr @jerry @catsalad I can't believe it's not Ubuntu ā„¢ļø
@jack @jerry @catsalad Ubuntu contains snap, which is an allergen. Ubuntu would most likely put me into shock.
@jerry @catsalad buttered Arch: the breakfast alternative?
@jerry
Is there any reason to use base Arch over Arch btw which a lot of people say they use?
@catsalad
@catsalad idk, been warned about the health effects of Margarinux
@catsalad Which distro is fit for purpose for toasty carbohydrates slathered with butter and garlic? I'm thinking Manjaro, but I wonder if Rocky would do in a pinch.
@catsalad I know you're a passionate advocate but I can't get it up and running on my iMAC . Tried many times, now no longer any bandwidth left for it. I was a good C , C++ , FORTRAN programmer. Unicode etc just leaves me cold. Sorry. Still using Android on an ancient laptop but good AMD processor + extra fast drives.
@catsalad
I can't believe it's not Unix
@catsalad Personally, I prefer bear garlic to common garlic, it is better on the stomach and allows me to enjoy my X11 Gnome Desktop in piece.
@catsalad
i see wha tyou did there...(sigh) i LIKE garlicy butter bread... but I like Linux morebetter
@catsalad All machines run smoother with butter
@catsalad Sure, killing a few hours posting on Mastodon is cool and all, but switching to Linux will remove up to 90% of your free time.
@catsalad and now my machine is full of rancid butter.
@catsalad I can't wait for AI to consume this and spit it back out for someone asking for a garlic bread recipe.
@catsalad 10/10 relatable. I use alpine now! (on one of my home-lab servers :D)
@catsalad I misread "needs" as "nerds" and the sentence still worked.
@catsalad does this lead to :
buttered toast + cat = flying saucer ?
@catsalad but what about the garlic bread
@catsalad Don't forget to stay hydrated, when you enjoy your salty garlic bread. And put some icy qubes into your glass of water. This will give you a fresh taste of everything, even when you have already switched to Linux.
@catsalad
What you're referring to as garlic bread, is in fact, butter/garlic bread, or as I've recently taken to calling it, butter plus garlic bread. Garlic bread is not an appetizer unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning butter system made useful by the butter flavor, texture and vital fats comprising a full appetizer as defined by Olive Garden.

@catsalad (Tries this)

... I'll be sending you my dental bills.

@catsalad Instead of, rather than in addition to...? 😁
@catsalad the ring came off my pudding can…
@catsalad I know we say ā€œbutterā€ for btrfs, but what in the Linux is ā€œgarlic breadā€?
@catsalad And no more dead badgers.
@catsalad and use butter for your computer. (btrfs that is).
@catsalad ...and here I thought this was going to end with something more like "set up a virtual machine to try out different types of spread in order to determine which flavors and quantities work best for your toasting needs".
@catsalad Being asexual and vegan, I have to eat garlic bread without butter. That's why I use Linux.
@catsalad VMs FTW!
@antdude @catsalad naah, i prefer my sandwich in a container
@utf_7 @catsalad sudo make sandwich
@antdude @catsalad nah, this is obsolete: podman build -t sandwich .
@catsalad https://distrosea.com/ could help choosing the one you will install first (test of Linux distribution in a browser).

Instantly test run Linux distros online in the cloud for free, right from your web browser. No installation or live boot required.

DistroSea
@pmiossec What does that have to do with garlic bread?
@catsalad
Something something Docker something.
@Takiro @catsalad So much this, negotiating the 'have you tried docker' responses to almost any request for help (especially in the homelab / self serve parts of the world) is so wearisome.
@catsalad have you considered a blockchain instead?
