@HarriettMB @oftencalledcathy In the beautiful linear Parc Peireire in Paris, I saw not one single bee or butterfly despite many, many tempting flowers, and despite being under the protection of Lugh and Gaia (attached). Saw a few in Fontainbleu, but nothing like the 11 grazing on one Johnson's Blue that were in Rathmines Park the week before

@oftencalledcathy @HarriettMB I was pretty shaken by it. The pool where Gaia and Lugh stand is the original Fontaine Belle-Eau, the spring of pure water for which Fontainbleu is named; there were many hoses spraying water on the lawns of the chateau, but not a bee, butterfly, hoverfly or moth to be seen 😪

But a butterfly just flew across my line of vision here ❤️ a tortoiseshell, I think
