I saw a really cool tiny green ute today. No pic, I thought the owner was coming & panicked. 🙄 REALLY tiny. Made my little Subaru #Brumby #Brat look like a RAM.[1]

Could probably fit two eskies in the tray, & two not too big adults up front. Woodford station, for #BlueMountains carspotters.

[1] poetic licence, probably made it look like a Ford Ranger, they're a tad smaller than a RAM, aren't they? Look, it just looked huge in comparison. Trust me. Or not. Help, how do I turn this thing off, it

More unsuccessful searching, but the 60s Mazda Rabo Coupe appears to be stylistically similar. Its sister ute/pickup looks completely different.

KEI HERO: Mazda R360 Coupé

Of all the mainstream carmakers, Mazda puts the most stock into the driving experience and the sportiness of their vehicles. However, this is not just a recent occurrence. Mazda’s had drivers…

@thefathippy

Sounds like a Suzuki Mighty Boy - a little Kei-class ute. 550cc 3 cylinder engine.

Heaps of fun to drive, and you can pack an extraordinarily large amount of Stuff into them.

I had one for about 10 years.

@rdm

No, definitely not a Mighty Boy - a mate's g/f had one back in the day, & I wanted one. They're too modern looking.

I'd guess this was smaller than a Mighty Boy. [scratches at memory] It slightly resembled a 60s Beetle from the front, with vintage style standalone lights on curved guards. Very coolly retro looking. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture, searching finds nothing similar.

@thefathippy
Hmmm... there is a 2CV ute variant.

@rdm

We're getting closer, but unsurprisingly the 2CV looks French. This one immediately made me think Japanese.

If I spot it again & don't take a photo, well... [devises horrific punishments, far worse than the "crime"] 😱

@thefathippy As @rdm said, you spotted a Mighty Boy. There's a few still kicking around in original condx but there's some yobs who have put blown Chev V8s in them for burnout shows. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-06-09/nsw-sydney-historic-vehicle-scheme-car-clubs/103681688,

@weezmgk @rdm

Nope, I know the Mighty Boy. A V8 in one would certainly be...something... 😳

@thefathippy I"ve seen some fifties three wheel utes here. Mazdas, former market cars, anything is possible. People are importing all sorts of fun things. Damn shame you couldn't get a photo!

@vwdasher

It's frustrating the hell out of me! 😂
