It's great to be back in NYC this week for #UNOpenSourceWeek and #OSPOSForGood.
I'm here with my coworkers from the Sovereign Tech Agency @sovtechfund and an amazing group of open source experts, the people who help keep the digital tools and systems we all depend on running smoothly and securely.

Together with Alpha-Omega, we organized the #Maintainathon, a space during the week to focus on the people and projects that maintain open digital infrastructure. This kind of work often happens behind the scenes, but it's absolutely essential. It’s not just about starting something new; it's about keeping what we already rely on safe, stable, and available for everyone

Sharing and talking about Germany's work in this area is particularly exciting. Through the Sovereign Tech Agency, we’re paving a way for how governments can invest in open digital infrastructure, and therefore in #OpenSource in the public interest. That means investing in people, strengthening what already works, and preparing the next generation of contributors and maintainers.

The components that form open digital infrastructure is de facto global and shared. That's why coming together at the United Nations makes sense, with voices from around the world. This week is a great moment to connect with others who care about the digital commons, open infrastructure, and our shared responsibility for the future.
