🇳🇱🚲🌷& 🍪 A trip to the Netherlands is never a wasted opportunity to nerd out on semiconductor technology. A thesis defence brought me to TU Delft, but this time I was not gonna miss the opportunity to see the Mapper machine!

🎬 Story time!

Speaking of prowesses of Dutch engineering, Strandbeests have evolved significantly over the years and Veritasium has a great video on the engineering challenges that were overcome by Theo Jansen to make them more autonomous.

But where do the Strandbeests go to die?

34 Years Of Strandbeest Evolution

#Strandbeesten that didn't make it, extinct specimens and silent witnesses to an evolution in progress, lie down at the Strandbeesten Mortuarium in Delft.

I've always wanted to see these beasts up close and if they fascinate you, it's a great opportunity to see them. There's also the Atari computer that Theo Jansen used to compute their movements.

But the dream lives on to one day witness a living one just doing Strandbeest things on the beach.

@fj strandbeest is very cool! also enjoy that Atari ST system font!
@fj I wonder if the leg length could be improved or other solutions found when searching with modern computers. Is the original code for leg optimizing available somewhere?
